I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Adelaide University majoring in genetics and ecology. I am interested in exploring how genetics is applied in conservation and restoration contexts. My current honours project (supervised by Martin Breed and Andy Lowe) is a study of the population genetic structure of three Goodenia species across South Australia. In particular my project aims are:
- to explore breaks in genetic connectivity across major SA land features
- to identify centers of genetic diversity and refugia in this study region
- to apply this information to conservation and restoration guidelines
To address these aims, my project involves a combination of fieldwork across SA for population sampling, lab work for leaf sample preparation and DNA sequencing, and analysis to interpret population structure.
